The garden this month
This month has been so hot and dry that the garden has suffered but at last the temperature is more normal at 21 degrees. The flowers are looking very pretty. I will add a few photos here and I have inserted a video slide show below.
We have had a great crop of new potatoes, all grown in containers and the strawberries have also been prolific. Some grown in the deep beds but most in containers. We have done well with spring onions grown in large pots.Cauliflowers have been abundant as have carrots and lettuce.
We are looking forward to leeks, broccoli sprouts etc when they are ready and for the first time our parsnips are looking fantastic and we are just about to plant some Broccoli Purplelicious which looks delicious but we will have to let you know later on in the year if it is any good.
At long last the runner beans are setting fruit. They have been flowering for some time but the heat has just been too much for them lately and much to my surprise we have broad beans ready for harvesting..
Here are a few photographs I took today. At the bottom of the page there are more photos shown in a video slide show. I reccomend you watch that full screen
