Supporting Local

I have always been a passionate advocate of supporting local. Before I retired and sold my business SoftData Internet I concentrated on Gloucester which is where we were based and where we lived. One of the ways we showed our support was through the Four Gates of Gloucester website which sadly has now closed.

Once we retired we decided to move to the country and chose the beautiful Forest of Dean and bought a small cottage in Cinderford which you can see in the photo on the left. Although I am retired that does not mean I sit around all day doing nothing. I created this web site which allows me to blog about my garden and I have set up a couple of popular sections.

1 What’s on in the Forest of Dean. This is a FREE calendar of Forest of Dean events. The page contains information on events taking place in the Forest of Dean. Things To Do & Days Out In Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire We list every type of event here from festivals, pub events to council events, jumble sales, walks, cooking lessons in fact every type of event you can think of. There is no charge to list an event here.

2 The Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley Directory. Again completely free to use and free to submit any local business or organisation.

3 I do blog about our garden and in particular about growing your own vegetables. With the cost of living going up all the time, you can save a lot of money by growing your own. See Growing vegetables in containers to see that you don’t need a large garden.

Both sections do get a lot of visitors so local businesses and organisations do benefit I’m pleased to say.
