Growing vegetables in Containers
It is surprising how well you can do Growing vegetables in Containers. We started last year but this year we have gone for it in a big way. Potatoes are an obvious choice. We are growing new potatoes and desire main crop, both in pots and bags. Planting them is very easy. Simply put in about an inch or so of compost and then place your chitted potatoes on that. Barely cover them and then top up with soil or compost as the plants grow and then simply water.

So, the potatoes have been a great success.
Growing Carrots in Containers
Carrots are another really easy plant to grow in containers. Because there are no stones in compost you end up with smashing straight carrots like those shown in the image, and once again harvesting is very easy.
Other vegetables in Containers
We have a cherry tree growing in a pot that this year has given us a very good crop.

As we empty the potato pots I straight away plant something else. So far this year dwarf french beans, carrots and parsnips have been planted in pots and are doing amazingly well.
Spring onions are another must. They are expensive in the shops and grow very well in containers.
We also have 4 cucumbers growing singly in pots. These are looking great now.
We have 2 cherry trees growing in pots and had a good harvest this year
So, all in all this is a great way to grow vegetables. Do give it a go and let me know how you get on.
