The Garden in Early May 2024
The last couple of days have been warm and sunny – perfect gardening weather so the garden in early may is a real joy. My fruit trees are all flowering, runner beans have been planted out and so have squashes and new potatoes.
In the veg plot: Broad beans, Runner beans, Peas, Onions, Garlic, Carrots, salad crops, Leeks, Strawberries are all planted out and doing well
As most of you know we do grow a lot of vegetables in containers and we continue to do so because it cuts down work and gives brilliant results.
My Wisteria is also coming into flower and Grape Hyacinths are also flowering These tiny-but-mighty little bulb, grape hyacinth naturalizes readily, so you’ll have more and more of these charming purple or white flowers every year. That means the clustered star-shaped flowers can easily become, well, the star of your garden! Plus, their scent is slightly reminiscent of, yes, you guessed it: grapes!
Our foxgloveFs are springing up all over the garden, mostly self seeded.
During The wet weather I have been concentrating on the Forest of Dean Events site but now the weather has turned the garden will get much more time
