A Happy and Contented Life in the Forest of Dean
I have now been retired for 10 years and have lived here in Cinderford for 8 years in the Forest of Dean with my lovely wife Vanda , and I am happy to say we do live a happy and contented life here in the Forest of dean. Despite a reduction in our income, we have a very good life. We both enjoy our garden where I grow some vegetables and my wife is in charge of all the flowers, mainly in pots. Things did improve in August when at last my wife got her pension, assuming they don’t put up the age again.
Before I retired, I ran my own company Softdata Internet LTD designing and hosting websites. Now I do very little except maintain my own blog here, I run 2 sites that promote local events.
- The City of Gloucester -I was born in Gloucester and occasionally blog about early life there. I also run a Calendar of Events for Gloucester
- My friend Ivan Taylor has asked me to revive the 4 Gates of Gloucester site, and I am doing that now for him, but that is the exception and just done for friendship.
I do a lot of voluntary work for the community such as being a volunteer driver for Lydcare and Lydney Dial a ride. This is really rewarding work and also very enjoyable. It is mostly taking people to our local hospitals or doctors surgeries , waiting for them and then taking them home again. I enjoy driving and it is marvellous to meet new people that you would not otherwise come across. We usually have a good chat on the journey. Some people I take say it is the only time thy get out of the house. That must say something about how we treat our elderly.
