Autumn is here

We are now getting cold and foggy weather, but we are still getting beans, courgettes and sweet corn from the garden. Cauliflowers are nearly ready and the sprouts are doing well. Really looking forward to eating them   I now also have a new morning routine chopping kindling and splitting logs for the wood burner.

The joys of the vegetable garden

Despite the late start there are many successes in our vegetable garden this year. Our beans are now producing a wonderful harvest, we have peppers and aubergines that are nearly ready ( was told impossible to grow them here in the Forest of Dean ) and the sprouts and cauliflowers are doing very well. Sadly we are today harvesting any …

Summer harvests from the garden

Despite the poor weather earlier on and the late start we had we are now starting to eat some of our produce. We have french beans and tomatoes ready for the table and the runners are all in full flower. The vegetable Garden

At last we are getting some decent weather and everything in the garden is doing well. The photo on the left is an aubergine flower. This little plant is covered with them. Our pepper plant was also an experiment and that is fruiting as well. Tomatoes were thinned out today, and all we need now for them is a few …

Vegetable garden looking better

Because of the date we moved in here we were very late in starting a vegetable garden and we did consequently have some failures. Not a single pea came up and the beans are pathetic, but some things are at last doing well. The tomatoes are doing very well, and at last the courgettes are flowering. This morning we can …

The good life

The last few months have been marvelous. Prior to moving to the Forest of Dean we lived in Churchdown for over 30 years. It was certainly the right decision both to sell our business ( Softdata Internet Ltd ) and to make the move to a smaller house in a cheaper area. There is now plenty of time to enjoy …
