Big changes to the garden this year

The weather has been kind to us today so we have been able to get out into the garden and start some plants off.
I have planted carrot seeds in containers today, early nantes and adelaide F1s as you can see in the photo on the left of this text. We had a few cauliflowers come up in a seed tray so 6 have been planted in the deep beds.
My Arran pilot new potatoes are now all out in bags as usual. They seem to grow well in containers and they are then also easier to harvest.I alway buy them from Dundry nursery, a good local supplierĀ . The technique for early potatoes in containers is simplicity itself. First chit them on a window ledge. I tend to put them in egg boxes as they are then easy to handle. once they have sprouted then put some soil or compost in the bottom of the bag. Once the plants come back into view, then just top up with more compost.
Here are some photos showing them being chitted and planted into bags.
You can see the process from chitting to planting
We have also planted a seed tray of leeks.
