Littledean
We visit Littledean regularly as it is just down the road from us, and every Friday we buy fish and chips from Frydays as it is the best chippy in the forest of dean.
Littledean is one of the ancient villages of the Forest of Dean. A mile east of the town of Cinderford, it contains many old buildings dating back to the 1600’s, and some even earlier. Littledean Hall, is one of these ancient buildings, and it is reputed to be one of the most haunted houses in England. St Ethelbert’s Church was built in the 14th century.
The village was once the site of Roman occupation, and the remains of the Roman temple can be seen in the grounds of the Hall. It is a very pretty village with some lovely buildings and some very fine hotels. You can see the web sites we have listed here
Well worth a visit, especially in the spring and summer when the quirky Crime through time museum is open. NB they do advise it is not suitable for small children. Here are a few photos taken today

Hi, and welcome to the Forest of Dean. My husband and I hope that you will be very happy here in your retirement, just as we are as we approach ours. We moved here in 2001 and have renovated a cottage in a village between Cinderford and Coleford in readiness for aging years.
I hope you don’t mind if I point an error in your piece above and that is regarding Littledean Hall. While it is true that at one time it was thought to be the most haunted house in England, that no longer applies, as some years ago the then owners had the property exorcized.
I hope that you both have a long and happy retirement here.
