Coleford in the Forest of Dean

Coleford – Forest of Dean

Coleford in the Forest of Dean

Coleford is a small market town in the west of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, two miles east of the Welsh border and close to the Wye Valley. When you consider It is the administrative centre of the Forest of Dean district it is a surprisingly small town. It is very close to Cinderford where I live so we do go there reasonably regularly, but today I was interesting in visiting the Forest Deli . You will find this independent shop at 4 Market Place Coleford.

Forest Deli ColefordThe owner is a cheerful man who welcomed me into his shop. I introduced myself as we follow each other on Twitter. I tried some of his cheese of course and a couple of other items. The sausage rolls were amazing. Nothing like the horrid pink things you so frequently see nowadays. For a small shop it is surprising what is on the shelves. He even stocks unusual Gin, and we do both love a G and T so highly reccomended.

I also popped into the local butchers there for some ham and wild boar sausages. All together Coleford is an attractive little town.
