Autumn in the vegetable garden

Autumn in the vegetable garden

Well, summer is over but we still have lots of lovely veg coming along in the garden. We are still eating carrots, leeks, french beans beet and potatoes from the garden and have lots of runner beans and sweetcorn in the freezer. The cabbages and Cauliflowers are now doing well and it looks like we are going to have a bumper harvest of sprouts. We had to net them when we first put them in as last year the dreaded cabbage whites decimated our crop.

Our winter onions are all in and I have filled just about every pot and container with garlic. We do use a lot of both in cooking meals. She who must be obeyed is making lots of lovely soup from our leeks, potatoes and carrots.

The only down side really is a lack of rain. The garden is still very dry.
