My Cinderford garden in autumn 2022
It really is autumnal now. My Cinderford garden in autumn 2022 is showing me that summer is well and truly over. It has been a very odd year for vegetable growing. The extreme heat affected many crops. Our runner beans produced the smallest crop we have ever had and the tomatoes were not that special.
Other crops have done very well. The sweet corn loved the heat and lack of water did not seem to worry them at all and the last 2 plants were taken down today. Our carrot crop was reasonable but we did had to water them.
The green vegetables are also doing remarkably well. We are eating broccoli and Brussel sprouts already and our parsnips are looking very good indeed. Leeks are ready to harvest and we still have some carrots in pots ready to eat.
The other really big success this year was the strawberries. We had huge amounts and Vanda froze some for ice cream and made a lot of strawberry jam.Cauliflowers have also been a great success
Now the one thing My Cinderford garden lacks is fruit. Apart from strawberries we don’t grow any at the moment. However ( see below ) we hope to have some apples and plums next year
Leaf Creative
Leaf creative is a garden centre in Huntley
We called in at Leaf Creative today. We both had a bowl of curried parsnip soup and half a roast beef sandwich. Both were delicious and we thought very reasonably priced. We sat out in the sunshine listening to a blackbird singing his heart out on top of a near by tree and the faint sounds of Bob Marley coming from their Jamaican bar. I highly recommend it .
