Leeks in the vegetable garden

The vegetable garden has been good to us

The vegetable garden has been good to us this year

We are now well into autumn and the vegetable garden is still feeding us. We have been eating the leeks for some time now ( leek and potato soup is our favourite ) , we have a shed full of onions and garlic and the freezer is full of French beans and runner beans. We also have bags of sweetcorn frozen.

The purple flowering broccoli is doing well, and at last the sprouts are doing well. What is Christmas without sprouts from the garden ?

Sadly we have run out of new potatoes but we did get a decent crop and will be planting even more in pots and bags next spring. The real stars have been our carrots. All grown in containers we are still harvesting them fresh.
