The joy of Gardening

Now the decent weather is here I am spending more and more time in the garden. Vanda’s flowers are starting to grow and bloom and the vegetables are settling in and growing well so the joy of gardening is a good title.

I have cauliflowers ( see the photo on the left that are doing very nicely and the curds are just barely visible so they won’t be that long now. You will see they are netted as without this protection either the cabbage white Butterflies or the sparrows will get them for certain.

Sprouts, purple sprouting runner beans and sweet corn have all been planted out. All my runner beans are in pots this year and will be grown up my fences. Being out in the garden is not only good exercise, but it calms the mind and relaxes you in a way that is very pleasurable.

Although the gardening club never took off I have kept a Facebook group the you can visit here https://www.facebook.com/groups/cinderfordgardeningclub . This is a general chat group for anyone who is interested in gardening.

We have been kindly given the use of a small greenhouse by our next door neighbour, so I am attempting to grow some tomatoes there. We can’t grow them out in the garden as they all come down with the blight.

Vanda has also just started off some lettuce seeds and we have leeks that are just about ready to come out of the seed trays. All in all things are looking good. I must confess I love gardening and I would be more than happy to talk to anyone else who feels the same. The garden, my driving for dial a ride and the events section here are keeping me vey busy Here are a few more photos taken today.
