St Briavels School is a Church of England school situated between the River Severn and River Wye in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Children at St Briavels experience an ‘outstanding’ creative curriculum (2011) where children are taught using a thematic cross-curricular approach and where the children have ownership of the themes they study.
The children work in mixed age classes and also benefit from needs-led small groups in Maths and Literacy, where they learn skills according to their stage of development. This has had an enormously positive impact on standards and progress across the school. The Reception children are in a class on their own and work closely with the on-site Early Years group. All KS1 and Reception children have regular Forest School sessions, where they learn how to take risks in a controlled environment.
